Sports Betting Strategies
Try not to just throw your money away when placing bets. Although the odds may sometimes look quite appealing, you should really try to avoid placing too many unrealistic bets. If you are betting on outright winners/correct result, perhaps you should stick to sports that have outcomes such as just ‘win’ or ‘lose’ like in tennis. There can be no draw in tennis (or in various other sports), so this immediately makes betting easier for you. Instead of a 1 (home team), X (tie/draw) or 2 (away team), you will only be able to bet on a 1 or 2 in events that can’t be tied.
Also, if a market has odds of 1.04 (decimal) 1/25 (fractions) or -2500 (American), there would be very little point putting money on this because if you were to put $50.00 with these odds, your total estimated returns would be $52.00, so for risking $50 you would only win $2.00. These kinds of bets are ideal if you have thousands of dollars to spare. For example, if you put $5,000 on with these same odds, you total estimated returns would be $5,200 (so you would win $200). Most of us don’t have this kind of spare cash though to place these huge bets.
Another piece of advice is to only bet on sports that you are familiar with, especially if you are serious about placing online sports bets. It doesn’t mean that you are guaranteed to win by only betting on sports that you have some kind of knowledge of, but it does help when it comes to placing a bet. If your sport is Baseball, you will probably have more luck betting on Baseball than you would on Ice Hockey. Just leave the other sports alone.
Quite often people are also tempted to place bets that are unlikely to win them any money. The lure of these odds and the potential returns they offer is sometimes too tempting for gamblers. It’s ok if you place these silly bets once in a while, but try not to make a habit of it, especially if you want to keep hold of your money for longer periods of time. The last piece of advice is to perform your own research before a game starts and try to find out important details about the event such as what the weather is like, or just check to see if the star player is missing or injured. Finding out these variables is quite often vital in sportsbetting.
